From 24-hour retreats and STA to one-on-one mentoring and group adventures, our tailored programs build confidence, resilience, and independence—supporting clients in achieving their NDIS goals across the Gold Coast.
24-Hour Support Retreats for Personal Growth & Well-Being
Clients participate in multi-day retreats in scenic outdoor locations, designed to provide respite, adventure, and therapeutic benefits. These retreats include activities such as:
- Surfing, hiking, and kayaking to promote physical health and mental well-being.
- Mindfulness and relaxation sessions to help manage stress and anxiety.
- Group bonding experiences that build social confidence and resilience.
One participant with anxiety and PTSD found that spending time in nature with 24-hour support helped him reset, recharge, and develop coping strategies for everyday life.
Short-Term Accommodation (STA) for Respite & Independence
Our STA services provide a safe and supportive environment for clients needing temporary accommodation with 24-hour care. These stays focus on:
- Developing independent living skills like cooking, budgeting, and personal care.
- Engaging in community activities, such as movie nights, social outings, and outdoor adventures.
- Providing families and carers with respite, knowing their loved one is in a supportive and engaging environment.
One client used an STA stay to transition towards independent living, gaining confidence in managing daily tasks while enjoying a fun and structured environment.
One-on-One Support for Everyday Living
Mentally Hooked provides tailored one-on-one support to help clients achieve independence in:
- Daily living skills, such as meal preparation, hygiene, and transport training.
- Health and fitness coaching, including gym sessions, Pilates, and outdoor training.
- Emotional regulation and mentoring, supporting clients in managing anxiety, stress, and behavioural challenges.
A young man with ASD improved his confidence and daily routines through structured support, eventually taking public transport independently and preparing his own meals.
Group Activities with Outdoor Adventures & Sleepovers
Social connection and adventure are at the heart of our group programs, which include:
- Camping trips with sleepovers, where clients experience the fun of the outdoors while building social and practical skills.
- Fishing and boating excursions, encouraging relaxation and teamwork.
- Beach and bush survival skills workshops, teaching resilience and independence.
- Sports, barbecues, and movie nights, creating a sense of community and belonging.
One client, initially hesitant about group settings, thrived in an overnight camping experience, gaining confidence and making lasting friendships.
Adventure-Based Therapy for Mental & Physical Well-Being
Using adventure as a tool for therapy, we offer:
- Fishing therapy sessions to build confidence and manage stress.
- Rock climbing and obstacle courses to enhance problem-solving and resilience.
- Nature walks and mindfulness coaching to support emotional regulation.

One-on-One Support for Emotional & Behavioural Regulation
Through mentoring, structured routines, and goal-setting, clients work towards emotional stability and personal growth. A teenager with ADHD learned effective coping strategies to manage impulsivity, leading to better focus in school and at home.
